Privacy policy

Who we are
DeltaVDevs is run by DeltaVortex. This policy covers www.deltavdevs.com. The blog, DeltaTime and Ward (DeltaVDevs accounts) have their own policies. For anything about your data, email contact@deltavdevs.com.
What we collect
Request logs. Our host, Railway, logs each request to the site: your IP address, the page, the time and your browser's user agent. We use these logs to keep the site running and secure and to count traffic. When we copy them into our own analytics, we store a hash of your IP address that changes every day, never the address itself.
Page views. A small script records the page you open, the page that linked you here (the referrer), any campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), your device type and your browser. We drop everything else in the address, such as other query parameters.
Links you follow away from the site. When you click a link to another website, we record the address you went to.
The analytics cookie, only if you allow it. A random visitor ID lets us count people who come back, instead of counting them again each day. Without your permission there is no visitor ID.
Email. If you email us, we keep the conversation to reply to you.
Cookies
Essential cookies make the site work and don't need your permission. The analytics cookie is off until you allow it. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a no.
| Name | Type | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| dv_consent | Essential | Remembers whether you allowed the analytics cookie. | 12 months |
| dv_theme (local storage) | Essential | Remembers which colour theme you picked. | Until you clear it |
| dv_vid | Analytics, only if you allow it | A random ID used to count returning visitors. | 13 months |
| dv_sid (session storage) | Analytics, only if you allow it | A random ID for one browser tab, used to group pages viewed in one visit. | Until the tab closes |
Why we're allowed to use it
Under the GDPR, the analytics cookie relies on your consent. Request logs and page counts without a visitor ID rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding how it's used; we keep them minimal for that reason. Emails rely on our legitimate interest in answering you.
How long we keep it
The daily key used to hash IP addresses is deleted after two days, so hashes from different days can't be linked and the hash can't be turned back into an address. After 13 months we delete everything in our analytics that could identify a person: visitor and session IDs, IP hashes and browser user agents. What remains is counts, pages, sources and timings that can't be tied to anyone. Records of your cookie choice follow the same rule.
Who else sees it
Railway hosts the site and our analytics, and processes this data on our behalf in the United States. We don't use third-party analytics or advertising services. We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw consent at any time; that doesn't affect what happened before. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We don't sell or share personal information, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
To use any of these rights, email contact@deltavdevs.com. Because we don't store IP addresses and most visitors have no ID, we may not be able to find data about you; if you allowed the analytics cookie, including its ID (in your browser's cookies as dv_vid) helps us find it.
Children
This site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If the change affects the analytics cookie, the cookie banner asks you again.
